Introduction
This guide shows how to remove the old engine air filter and install a new one on a 2018-2024 Toyota Camry equipped with the 2.5L 4-cylinder.
The engine air filter keeps dirt out of your engine and helps preserve fuel economy. Dirty or clogged air filters can hamper engine performance—replacing it regularly will keep your Camry running well.
Perform this service whenever the filter looks dirty or at the interval specified in your maintenance schedule to maintain smooth performance and protect your Camry’s 2.5 L engine.
Follow the steps below to access the filter housing, swap the filter, and secure everything back in place.

Press down on the two tabs at the front of the box to disengage them.

Lift the front edge of the air box cover once the clips release.

Pull the cover toward the front of the car to create clearance.

Reach inside the housing and slide the old air filter straight out.

Observe the two molded tabs on the rear edge of the air box cover that slide into matching slots.

-
Position the new filter with its pleats running front to back.
-
Lift the cover and slide the filter down into the housing.
-

Align the rear tabs with their slots and lower the cover.
-
Press the two front clips until their centers click to lock the cover.

Start the engine and listen for any unusual intake noise that could indicate the cover is not sealed.
