Hi! My name is Anjali Jain and I also go by Jay. I am a third year Computer Science student at University of California, Davis, where I chose my major to better utilize my problem-solving skills and passion for innovation.
Growing up, I was inspired by my dad’s love for fixing things around the house, which sparked my curiosity for tinkering and finding creative solutions for anything in my surroundings that needs fixing. Over time, I’ve developed a passion for repairing, improving, and learning through hands-on experience.
Repair Experience:
Here's a short list of small repairs I have done over the years.
- Fixing a crooked sliding closet door that wouldn’t run smoothly.
- Reinforcing a cracked dining table leg to make it sturdy again.
- Repairing a wobbly synthesizer stand for better stability.
- Crafting a temporary desktop shelf organizer using cardboard boxes.
- Sewing torn clothes so I do not have to throw them away.
- Replacing the nut of an acoustic guitar neck.
- Fixing a broken umbrella using a zip tie to reattach the metal frame to the fabric.
- DIY-ing the game of Clue by repurposing an old board game and deck of cards when I was 12 and couldn't afford the game with my little pocket money.
I’m comfortable with tools like pliers, socket wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and more. When I don’t have the exact tools or components I need, I enjoy improvising creative solutions.
Through the Fast Fix project, I’m excited to further expand my repair skills, collaborate with the iFixit community, and contribute to promoting sustainability through repair.
