Inleiding

"Love is in the MacBook Air" en we hebben een gloednieuwe MacBook PRo 13" Touch Bar 2017 om voor te vallen. Wat is er nieuw, geleend, en blauw in deze MacBook Air killer opvolger? We zullen 'm moeten demonteren om hier achter te komen.

    • De geur van een nieuwe Mac, je moet ervan houden, maar hoe nieuw is deze Pro? Laten we eens kijken naar alle specs:

    • 13.3" LED-backlit IPS Retina-scherm met 2560 x 1600 resolutie (227 dpi), P3 wide kleurenpalet

    • 3.1 GHz Kaby Lake dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost tot 3.5 GHz)

    • 8 GB aan 2133 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM

    • 256 GB PCIe-based SSD

    • Geïntegreerde Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650

    • Vier Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) poorten en 3.5 mm hoofdtelefoonpoort

    • Met dank aan onze ervaringen uit het verleden hebben we de aanstotelijke zuignap-wrikker-schuif manoeuvre al onder de knie en weten we deze laptop dus in een mum van tijd te openen.

    • Nu de oester is geopend en de parel eindelijk zichtbaar is, worden we overvallen door een déjà-vu.

    • Vergelijk de MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 (de tweede foto)...

    • ...met de MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2016 (derde foto).

    • Eigenlijk lijkt het erop dat vrijwel alles hetzelfde is, tot aan de 49.2 Wh batterij toe.

    • Het enige verschil dat ons wel opvalt is de afwerking van de ventilatoren. Het lijkt erop dat de 4K iMac een goede nieuwe verfbeurt heeft gekregen.

    Poor man's suction cup: wide packing tape works great to make a temporary handle to pull up on the case.

    • We houden er altijd van om onderdelen uit een toestel te halen om deze te transformeren in goede snorren. Dit zijn de geheimen aan de binnenkant:

    I just got one of these with apparent liquid damage to the SSD modules area—the computer is dead as a doornail, no signs of life. I see ifixit sells mustaches—er, motherboards—for this model (used), but there is no replacement guide. I'm wondering if it would be worth trying to replace that. This is still a perfectly viable model MacBook Pro otherwise, despite being officially vintage.

    • De MacBook Pro 13" met Touch Bar krijgt van ons 1 van de 10 punten op onze repareerbaarheidsschaal (10 is het gemakkelijkst te repareren):

    • Het trackpad kan worden verwijderd zonder dat de batterij eerst moet worden verwijderd.

    • Propriëtaire pentalobe-schroeven blijven het repareren van de laptop onnodig bemoeilijken.

    • De batterijmodule is in z'n geheel, en niet onverdienstelijk, in de behuizing vastgelijmd, wat vervanging bemoeilijkt.

    • De processor, RAM en het flashgeheugen zijn vastgesoldeerd aan het logic board.

    • De Touch Bar voegt een tweede, moeilijk te vervangen en makkelijke te beschadigen scherm toe.

    • De Touch ID-sensor werkt ook als een aan-/uitknop en is gecombineerd met de T1 chip op het logic board. Het repareren van een kapotte aan-/uitknop kan speciale hulp van Apple, of een nieuw logic board vereisen.

That 2012 MacBook Pro was my very favorite. I'm still using my old one as a second computer.

You should do an in-depth analysis of they new keyboard, and see if there are actual structural differences between the 2016 keyboard and the new 2017 one, and if so provide some pictures.

There is NFC chip on Mac? I didn't see that in 2016 RMBP13. So I guess these should be NFC chip on 2017 RMBP 15 as well?

I guess the NXP 66V10 is there for the secure element (to hold keys for payment security & maybe vault etc.), rather than NFC.

Very interested in whether the 2017 keyboard is different to the 2016 version. I had to return mine (and 2 CRUs) because keys kept sticking. Really hoping the mechanism might be updated!

Can someone confirm if the SSD is removable and that it can be replaced with a bigger version?

The SSD is composed of Apple proprietary SSD controller and four NAND Flash chip that are soldered on the main board. It is not removable. The SSD can support larger capacity with higher density NAND Flash chip. Larger capacity support is an option when end user order it. End user can not change it.

The funny connector to nowhere is the connector to tap into the SSD. When the Apple connector is mounted (as supplied) it connects the CPU to the SSD. When removed the signals for the SSD can be accessed.

Hi I would like to ask you a question, just above the speakers there are 2 Flex cables on the motherboard. In the opening maneuver the more external one on the right side (looking at the motherboard from above) I would like to know what it is, because I saw that in the left part always above the speakers there are the same 2 Flex cables. The MacBook works but I can not figure out what I broke in the opening.

You don't.

I assume you're talking about storage and not memory. For years the best advice for anyone shopping for a Mac has been to configure-to-order as much storage as you can possibly afford.

actually you can replace the Power Button / Touch ID . Power button will work but not Touch ID

Hello, I have an issue with my MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 , the keyboard stop responding, but the touch bar and the trackpad are working perfectly. I took it back to apple store but it will cost me £570 ( cos is out of warranty) so I declined the repaired.. I can repaired it by myself but I don’t know what repair parts to purchase from here. Any suggestions will be appreciated . Thank you.

Hi. I have the 3.1Ghz i5 version of this MBP. Aside from it being difficult to work on, is there any reason I can't swap out the logic board and replace it with the 3.5Ghz i7 logic board? Has anyone tried this? A faster processor, double the RAM and HD capacity. This particular A1706 has the 4 USB-C ports. Is it worth the time and effort? I'd love to hear back from you about this.
