Inleiding
A pulse oximeter is a small device used to measure the oxygen level (SpO₂) in your blood and your pulse rate. It's quick, painless, and useful for monitoring respiratory health.
How to Use a Pulse Oximeter
- Wash and Dry Your Hands: Clean, dry hands help ensure accurate readings and keep the device hygienic.
- Remove Nail Polish or Artificial Nails: Color or artificial material can block the sensor and cause false readings.
- Sit and Rest for a Few Minutes: Stay calm and still for about 5 minutes to get a stable measurement.
- Turn on the Device: Press the power button to activate the oximeter.
- Insert Your Finger Properly: Place your index or middle finger into the clip with the nail facing upward.
- Keep Still During Measurement: Hold your hand steady and avoid talking while the reading is in progress.
- Wait for the Reading to Stabilize: It usually takes 5–10 seconds for the device to display your SpO₂ and pulse.
- Read and Note the Results: Check the display for oxygen level (usually 95–100%) and pulse rate (normal 60–100 bpm).
- Turn Off and Clean the Device: Remove your finger, switch off the oximeter, and wipe it down with a clean cloth or alcohol wipe.
