Some railway platforms are too short for long trains, so the doors only open in some carriages of the train. Passengers must plan ahead and travel in the right carriage.

=* can be used on public_transport=stop_position nodes to indicate which carriages can be used at this station.

Disambiguation

This key is not to be confused with carriage=*, which indicates whether a roadway or other facility allows horse-drawn carriages. Horse-drawn railway lines are quite rare nowadays!
