The key =* indicates whether bicycles can be transported on an aerialway. The following values are used:
=yes– Bicycles can be transported all year round.=summer– Bicycles can only be transported during summer.=no– Bicycles cannot be transported.
Default values
If this key is not set, the following default assumptions are made for different types of aerialways:
aerialway=cable_car,aerialway=gondola, andaerialway=mixed_liftimply=yes.aerialway=chair_liftandaerialway=t-barimply=no.
Details on bicycle transport
The possibility of taking bicycles on aerialways depends on various factors:
- As a rule, passengers load and unload their bicycles themselves onto the gondola or lift.
- For safety and weight reasons, e-bike batteries often have to be removed, as the brackets are usually designed for a maximum of 25 kg.
- The tyre width may also be restricted (usually up to 12 cm), as wider tyres may not fit in the holder.
- Whether bicycle transport is technically possible depends on the type of aerialway. In principle, it is possible with gondola lifts, chairlifts, and T-bar lifts, although technical modifications may be required.
- In many cases, there is an additional charge for transporting bicycles. This can be indicated using the
fee=*key.
Examples
-
A chairlift with bicycle holders.
-
A T-bar lift that does not allow bicycle transport but takes cyclists on their bikes.
