It is useful for climbers to know the length (distance) of the route. Longer climbs are usually more fun, but needs a longer rope, more protection (quickdraws) and more endurance. If the length is longer than the usual rope lenght, it may be a multi-pitch climb (see Wikipedia).

Usual lengths of climbing ropes:

  • 40 m
  • 60 m
  • 80 m
