The =* key is used as the key for indoor corridors, rooms, etc. in the Simple Indoor Tagging scheme. In some cases, there are uses that pre-date the Simple Indoor Tagging scheme from older, now defunct, proposals.

Generic values

Used to tag wether an object is indoor or not.

  • =yes - Generic indoor element
  • =no - Something outdoor

Simple Indoor Tagging

Used to tag indoor building features like rooms and doors.

  • building:part=* - This tag is used to mark a part of a building, which has attributes, different from such ones at other parts. It is about "gross" buildings, i.e. including walls, roofs and other structure, and is mainly used in Simple 3D Buildings.

The tag building:part=* is not in the Simple Indoor Tagging and should not be used for rooms.

If you know places with this tag, verify if it could be tagged with another tag.
Automated edits are strongly discouraged unless you really know what you are doing!
