The =* tag is used to indicate the power rating or electric energy consumption (measured in watts, W) consumed by a light_source=*.

Values

Common values may include, but are not limited to:

Power Consumption (=*) Approx. lumens output (light:flux=*)
Incandescent Bulb
(light:method=incandescent)
Light-Emitting Diode
(light:method=LED)
=25 W =3 W light:flux=200 lm
=40 W =5 – 8 W light:flux=450 lm
=60 W =8 – 12 W light:flux=800 lm
=75 W =10 – 16 W light:flux=1100 lm
=100 W =14 – 17 W light:flux=1600 lm
=150 W =24 – 30 W light:flux=2600 lm

Note that the values for LEDs in the above table are ranges because efficiency varies, but the value of =* should be a single number such as =10 W.

The unit W may be specified explicitly but is not required and assumed to be the default if no unit is included.

Possible tagging mistakes

  • =120W ‒ Should be light:power=120 W (note space between value and unit)
If you know places with this tag, verify if it could be tagged with another tag.
Automated edits are strongly discouraged unless you really know what you are doing!
  • =75 w ‒ Should be light:power=75 W (note capitalization of unit)
If you know places with this tag, verify if it could be tagged with another tag.

  • =800 lm ‒ Should be light:flux=800 lm (note key)
If you know places with this tag, verify if it could be tagged with another tag.
