This key is set automatically by several popular editors on created changesets, and is generated based on the language the author has chosen for the editing interface. For example, a changeset made by an editor using Traditional Chinese in iD should have =zh-TW, for "Chinese (Taiwan)".

Software support

JOSM does not set =*, but it does include a locale code in created_by=*.
