A legend can be added by giving the parameter 

-legend=n

n is a number between 1 and 4 (5) specifying the corner where to place the legend. If you specify 5 the legend will only be placed in a separate file called original_legend.svg (png/pdf).

If you want an object to be placed in the legend simply add two lines to the according rule: 

legend=yes
legendlabel=Town
