A fixme= tag defines that the mapper is missing the name for the object.
How to map/avoid using fixme=
Some objects have a name=* but still have a fixme=, remove the fixme instead.
For missing names like highways, buildings (like restaurants, and toilets), services, and bridges, use the tag fixme= for all the ways.
- Make sure that the way has a name. If not, then use
fixme=instead. Or if you got the data from the ground or other sources, then do not use this to prevent spam. - Most restaurants have a name. But if the name is not known and cannot be seen on the streetside, kindly use
fixme=. If the restaurant has no name, usenoname=yesinstead. If the restaurant has a name and some mappers rarely know the name, usefixme=verify nameinstead. - This tag is always not used for untagged lines, houses (with no name), power lines, service highways, etcetera.
- For most highways, use the streetside at the intersection and find the street name sign and search every corner to find where the street name sign was located and find the street name instead of using the tag
fixme=. If not, usenoname=yesinstead. - Most houses have an address plate on their wall. Search every house on the street side to find the street name. If not, then use
noname=yes. This could help to prevent thefixme=tag.
Contradiction
This proposition contradicts the examples of usage on the fixme=* page. Where the statement "You should not use it for errors that can be automatically detected by error detection tools." and missing names can detect any tools.
