Bible thumper (also called Bible basher or Bible beater) is a description used with respect to particularly vocal Christians who constantly quote the Bible when discussing non-Biblical topics (often about science, but also about homophobia, porn, etc.). The term comes from old-timey circuit preachers who would emphatically thump a bible held aloft while making their points.
Morality
In the bible thumper’s opinion all moral issues are determined by what the bible says, chapter and verse, as the bible thumper quotes.
- Those who refuse to follow the precepts of the bible thumper are Hell-bent sinners.
- Those who disagree with how the bible thumper interprets the aforementioned book are heretical Hell-bent sinners.
