James William "Jimmy" Moore (1971–) is an American convicted child molester,[1] cholesterol denialist and low-carb high-fat promoter. He describes himself as "one of the true pioneers in the online low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic community".[2] Moore operated the online blog and podcast Livin' La Vida Low-Carb. Over the years, he has promoted numerous low-carb quackery diets, including Atkins, paleo, and the carnivore diet.

Moore is morbidly obese but claimed to have lost 180 pounds on the Atkins diet.[3] Critics have noted that Moore never lost any weight on his diet and his weight loss stories were a scam.[4] In 2018, Moore was promoting a conspiracy theory similar to his friend Malcolm Kendrick that a group of vegan activists had highjacked Wikipedia and were deleting entries for keto influencers.[5]

Moore lectured on low-carb diets around the world. He was a speaker for Low Carb Down Under on "Keto And Paleo Are A Match Made In Heaven" and also did lectures promoting cholesterol denialism.[6][7] In 2021, he complained that some individuals in his own carnivore and keto community were fat shaming him.[8]

He has authored many books on low-carb dieting, including Keto Clarity, Real Food Keto, The Keto Cure, and The Ketogenic Cookbook.[3] Moore co-authored a book on fasting with Jason Fung, but after his child sex conviction, his name was dropped from the book.[9]

Child sexual abuse

In May 2022, Moore was arrested for seven counts of statutory rape.[10] His victim was a 13-year-old girl whom he had molested in 2019. He pleaded guilty to all child sexual abuse charges.[3] In January 2023, Moore was sentenced to 20 years in prison.[1]

After his arrest, most keto influencers, especially the ones who appeared on his podcast, remained silent about Moore. An exception was the keto YouTuber Logan Delgado, who made a video about Moore denouncing him as a predator. Delgado claimed there had been many complaints within the keto community about Moore sending inappropriate sexual messages.[11]
