- Ikkenai, who lies in torpor in the Arctic after a battle with Louhi is rescued by Thomas, who takes her back to her home in Aix-di-Chapelle.[4]

- July 4: The imperial army of Japan clashes with shogitai, the samurai loyal to the absent shogun. The army is equipped with firearms while the samurai fight with swords. The day is a massacre. Three samurai decide on a different path, and take up the way of the ninja, later founding the Go Kamisori Gama.[6]
