Overview
| “ | I… I don’t understand. Slow. Talk slow. Please. | ” |
A beautiful woman maintaining a deliberately confused, shy demeanor, Nejem was born in Iraq just before the beginning of the first Gulf War to a wealthy father who played at being an upstanding Sunni. In truth, he was a student of the occult, binding Jinni to his will. When Ayda disobeyed her father and read from his private library, he sent her away to a private school in Europe, where she fell further into her own occult interests.
Eventually, she and her friends were caught in the midst of a ritual. As part of her punishment, Nejem's father brought her back to Iraq. As revenge, however, Ayda enacted a curse to murder her father — a curse that turned her into a Ghûl. When the Americans invaded, she took the opportunity to seduce her way into a camp and use their communications equipment to place advertisements across the Internet: Pay her way out of Iraq in exchange for marriage.
