Barghest (GTSE)

A Barghest is the ghost of an animal. While most animals do not possess the self-concept necessary to leave a ghost, an animal that was particularly loved or admired might do so. Being less sapient than human ghosts, Barghests typically do not resist the call to enter the Underworld and plunge into one of the Rivers, dissolving into its waters. However, enterprising ghosts - particularly those with power over animals - may intercept and train a Barghest as a companion.

Barghests rarely have a Rank higher that 2, but a few rare Barghests, such as the Demon Cat of Washington, D.C., may rise to the level of geists.
