Bat-Spirit

Bat-Spirits (also called zotz, screechers, or munsufthal) are small but numerous spirits that, in many Western countries, are associated with spirits of dark emotions.

Overview

<<We see without sight; we fly without feathers. We live in stone halls, but dance on the air.>>

Frequently appearing as a cross between terrestrial bats and pterosaurs, bat spirits lack eyes, bearing instead frilled noses and enormous ears. Occasionally, such spirits will instead be spirits of bat swarms and thus bring to bear a substantially greater Size and Corpus.

These spirits often are found in broods with spirits of horror, fear, death, night, and, interestingly, earth and air. Rarely do bird and bat spirits truck with one another. Those seeking to entreat with zotz ought to provide as a gift a slurry of fruit, crushed insects, and blood left near a bat roost.
