Batalhão de Operações Especiais Secretas

The Batalhão de Operações Especiais Secretas (Secret Special Operations Battalion in Portuguese) - usually shortened to the acronym BOES - is the premier vampire-hunting organization of Brazil. One of the founding members of the Coalition, the BOES has been waging an shadow war against supernatural forces for decades - often without any outside support. Only recently have they begun to extend their operations outside of the Republic of Brazil, enjoying close ties to the Society of Leopold thanks to their home country's deeply Catholic roots.

Despite recent successes, the BOES is somewhat segregated from its parent organization: the military police of the BOPE. This is due to the BOES' paranoia as to the level of influence various supernatural and criminal elements have over the BOPE's officer corps. However, this operational isolation - combined with the brutal training regimens undergone by aspiring caveira - results in a highly factional, hyper-aggressive internal culture. Some of their units, such as the infamous BOPE-RJ (BOES of Rio de Janeiro), have even been publicly accused of multiple human rights violations. Torture, mass execution of surrendered criminals, civilian casualties - the list goes on.

To this day, the BOES represent some of the most well-trained urban combatants in the Coalition's arsenal, and the most notorious for collateral damage.
