Collegium Praecepti
The Collegium Praecepti was a fellowship of mages organized in ancient Rome, an early forerunner of the Order of Reason.
History
The Collegium was based on the Mt. Ossa Calyx in Greece, but in 44 BCE it was relocated to Rome and renamed in Latin. The members of the Collegium referred to their object of study as the Ars Praeclarus, "the brilliant art." They have a rivalry with the other mystic factions in the city, such as the Cult of Mercury and the Messianic Voices.
The physical building of the Collegium was destroyed in the sack of Rome in 410. However, students of the Ars Praeclarus fled to Byzantium or northern Europe, and the art was preserved.
