Daud-Allah Abu Hisham ibn Muqla al-Baghdadi
Daud-Allah Abu Hisham ibn Muqla al-Baghdadi was the Batini delegate to the First Cabal. He was killed in the Great Betrayal.
Biography
Daud-Allah claimed to be 400 years old at the time of the First Cabal, making him its oldest member. He fought alongside Saladin in the Second Crusade, and carried a scimitar he captured in battle with Genghis Khan. He was proficient with numerous weapons and regularly practiced his martial skills. In battle, he was both fast and deadly.
Despite this, he was reserved and even-tempered, slow to anger and reserved in his opinions. He spoke many languages quite fluently and was well versed in Greek, Jewish and Christian philosophy as well as Islam. He and Sister Bernadette formed a tenuous bond through frequent discussions of Scripture, and he had frequently wide-ranging discussions with Heylel Teomim. Other members of the cabal, such as Walking Hawk and Louis DuMonte, were apparently intimidated by his level of education.
Akrites Salonikas was close to Daud-Allah, both because of their shared Mideastern origins and because he represented to the younger Seer the ideals of Ascension, and he regularly sparred with Fall Breeze. The only member of the Cabal with whom he experienced tension was Eloine, as he found her practices (late-night dancing and nudity) incomprehensible, and she found his questions about them insulting. Daud-Allah was diplomatic enough to let the subject lie rather than continue to antagonize her.
As time went on and relations between the cabal members frayed, several of them attacked Daud-Allah for his insistence on wearing Persian clothing and on stopping to pray five times a day. Still, he defended himself and the others with his life when Teomim betrayed them to the Order of Reason.
