David Braughn
David Braughn is an eight-year-old boy who is too aware of the Shadow for his own comfort.
Overview
Living alone with his overworked mother, Braughn fears the monsters under his bed, because despite his mother's reassurances, he can regularly hear them calling out, whispering his name and the names of people he knows.
Braughn himself is not of any particular interest to the spirits that haunt the area. Rather, the bed on which he sleeps, the only one in the apartment, is the site of numerous disasters, including a rape and at least two painful deaths, one of them a murder.
