Detroit is the largest city in the US state of Michigan. The city has an extensive engineering industry and is the center of the American automotive industry. (The city is therefore also called Motortown (the motor city) or simply Motown, which is also the name of a record company with mainly black music). Due to its location on the Great Lakes (between Lake Huron and Lake Erie), the city has also developed into one of the largest inland ports in the United States and it is connected to the Atlantic via the Saint Lawrence Trail.
