Grails Covenant Trilogy

Grails Covenant Trilogy was a three novel series set in the Vampire: The Dark Ages setting by author David Niall Wilson that composed the Grails Covenant saga: Book 1 To Sift Through Bitter Ashes, Book 2: To Speak in Lifeless Tongues, Book 3: To Dream of Dreamers Lost. The series constitutes the first extended foray into Vampire: The Dark Ages fiction a follow up to the debut publication of the anthology Dark Tyrants in 1997. Though a self contained story, the tale begun in the Grail Covenant saga continues in some regards in The Trilogy of the Blood Curse by author Gherbod Fleming, though this latter tales setting is the 90s era Vampire: the Masquerade not the Dark Ages, and follows a different protagonist.

The books were re-released in 2020 by Crossroad Press.

Overview

Obsessed with the acquiring the Holy Grail for his clan, the Lasombra elder Montrovant sets out on a quest that leads him through the establishment of the Knights Templar, the lair of an ancient Egyptian evil, and the deserts of the Holy Land. Dark forces are pitted against him, and each ally must be watched in turn, as treachery leads to deceit and back again in a race against time, the Church, and the mysterious Kli Kodesh, who is more ancient, even than Montrovant's sire, the Lasombra Methuselah Claudius.

Only persistence, luck, and the power of his own will can see him through to his goal, and any mistake could mean his destruction.
