Great Unleashing

The Great Unleashing is described as the beginning of modern life among the Fae. It took place at the beginning of the Mythic Age.

Overview

The modern fae hold the belief that the source of the Great Unleashing was a conflict between the Fomorians and the Inanimae. The Fomorian's tyranny was broken when the Dreaming birthed the Inanimae as a defense mechanism against their attempt to reshape the world again. The Fomorians answered by creating their own fae servants, the Thallain. Thallain and Inanimae clashed and the resulting magic influenced nature in a strong backlash.

Older lore from before the fall of the Oath-Truce maintains that the conflict was between the Firstborn and the Inanimae, without a moral distinction. The Firstborn, as creatures of the original Mists, saw creation as flawed and tried to restart it. The Inanimae, children of the world, soon challenged the Firstborn and the magic of both sides clashed.

Regardless which version is true, the result of the Great Unleashing is seen as the same. the world was fundamentally changed and outside the grasp of faeries. The minds of mortals were granted the ability to dream of higher concepts, which allowed for the formation of the Tuatha de Dannan later.
