Gregory Demetrios

Gregory "Greg" Demetrios is a hunter and ex-Special Agent of the FBI's Special Affairs Department. He currently serves as the right-hand ghoul of his domitor, Baron Nelli G.

Biography

Originally from New England, Gregory had been working for the SAD for some time alongside his partners, Special Agents Louis Jankowski and Tim Wilson. Given their Department's field of expertise, the trio had encountered quite a bit of the strange and unexplainable in their time, but nothing could have prepared them for Los Angeles.

Greg thought they had finally gotten their lucky break when his team managed to flip the small-time Brujah crime boss Bobby Blaine. In exchange for intel on the Kindred of LA, the team provided Blaine and his coterie with deadly anti-vampire weaponry sourced from the SAD. Of course, by this point Greg and his fellow agents were working well outside "official" procedure, but SA Demetrios was convinced the rewards would outweigh the risks.

The first cracks in their scheme began to show when Blaine, still holding a grudge from his mortal days, began moving in on the domain of Victor Temple. This led to a series of events culminating in a failed stakeout of the Chat Noir burlesque in Burbank. Jankowski and Wilson were made and captured by Temple's coterie, with Greg starting a fire on the premises in an attempt to help them escape. Unfortunately, the Minister owners of Le Chat Noir weren't particularly keen on allowing inquisitors to violate their turf. Gregory never saw either of his teammates again.

After living on the streets for weeks terrified that the "blankbodies" would come for him next, Gregory eventually approached the Toreador Nelli G, thinking that she'd be the most open to coming to some sort of deal for his life. In a way, she was - taking full advantage of Greg's ignorance of the blood bond and transforming him into her ghoul.

Gregory's new retainer status proved invaluable when Nelli was attacked and staked by an angry Wraith in a parish in Los Feliz. He managed to reach out to the rest of her coterie just in the nick of time to rescue her from the wreckage of the church.

Taking advantage his status as a Second Inquisition affiliate, Nelli used Greg to deliberately feed the FIRSTLIGHT operatives under Drew Handler false intelligence, throwing them off her coterie's scent for years. Gregory even personally participated in a daylight raid against an FBI safehouse in order to rescue fellow ghoul Chloe Hudson. However, the situation came rapidly to a head after Agent Handler botched the interrogation of the Ventrue Fiona - prompting the Society of Leopold to take over local SI operations in a fully-fledged auto-da-fé. Gregory was officially fired from the Bureau and declared compromised by the blankbodies, even sustaining a near-fatal gunshot wound during the SI assault in 2021.

Gregory eventually recovered from his injuries, and though no longer a federal investigator, presumably continues to serve at the behest of the Baron of Hollywood.

Trivia

• Gregory Demetrios was introduced as the player character of special guest Vincent Caso in LA by Night S1E10: Black Magic. Despite being a "guest character", Gregory appears and/or cameos numerous times throughout the chronicle.
• Despite being Nelli's ghoul for over three years now, Gregory still stubbornly refers to vampires by the SI nomenclature of "blanks" or "blankbodies" - particularly those he doesn't like.
