Description

“ Here is the Bridge Which is Mine. The toll must be paid in accord with the ancient laws. Will you offer one of your own as my mid-day meal, or will you show me the face of true beauty? ”

At nearly ten feet high, this imposing hobgoblin is a spectrally-thin figure with horned gray skin, lamp-like eyes, and needle teeth. It takes a toll from those who pass its bridge — it devours one person out of each party that passes its territory, unless the travelers can show it true beauty, its notions of which are far from mortal views. The creature is willing to play twenty questions as regards its conceptions of beauty, up to a point; eventually, it will grow bored and demand its victim.

Note: The sourcebook specifies that the Grim Grinning Gaunt’s stats are identical to those of the Hidden Killer (bar the exchange of Contracts of Vainglory with those of Stone. As this likely is solely for the purpose of combat (none of the rolls involving it are contested), some Skills and Merits are likely inaccurate, given its description (e.g. Striking Looks or Politics 4).
