Heaven Thunder Triad

Heaven Thunder Triad is an organized crime group active in the Nova Age.

Overview

Heaven Thunder is the umbrella group for modern-day triads, which have their origin in 17th-century mainland China. Unlike the Nakato Gumi or the Camparelli-Zukhov Megasyndicate, the triads are not highly centralized; the leaders in Hong Kong delegate most day-to-day operations to local or regional organizations, which mostly operate under different names to obscure their ties to one another.

Within China and Southeast Asia, the triads are omnipresent, and have perfected the art of misdirection and misinformation against law enforcement. Outside this central territory, the triads have a strong presence in cities with large Chinese populations, including several in Australia and the west coast of the US and Canada. They are almost synonymous with the heroin trade in the West, where law enforcement is often hampered by a lack of cultural awareness and language skills.

In the 21st century, the triads are moving into the market for nova-derived drugs such as soma and mite. Female Chinese novas, along with junkies and other "undesirables," are routinely kidnapped so their M-R node can be surgically extracted for processing. Ho Kai Ming, a Hong Kong-based triad leader, is a nova with the unique ability to spark the eruption of other novas, which supplies his organization with a steady stream of victims.
