Anyone care to explain what’s going on here?

Though lacking much of any real authority, St. Elmo makes a point of stretching what he can get away with in dealing with the Court's enemies. In the case of Blue Jenny's machinations, this manifested in threats against a motley she had conned into working for her, only retracted when the motley provided aid to him or fled while St. Elmo and his allies were under attack.

St. Elmo is part of a motley called the Apostolic Knights, composed of himself, Quiet Luke, Strong Matthew, and Mark Stalwart.
