Julius of Gaul
Julius of Gaul is the first person recorded to have discovered the Ankaran Sarcophagus near Ankara, in what was then the Ottoman Empire, in the year 1068.
His scribe, upon seeing the Sarcophagus for the first time, began convulsing uncontrollably and promptly died. Julius called the Sarcophagus " a nefarious and dread thing, full of some ancient and undeniable evil," and had the Sarcophagus re-entombed, where it would lay quiet again for another 900 years.
His writings on the topic eventually made their way into the Vampyr Apocrypha, a guidebook for members of the Society of Leopold.
