Kumalo

Kumalo is a former Zulu farmer turned changeling kingslayer.

Overview

I smell a lion. I sharpen my spear.

Once a simple cattle rancher, Kumalo became entangled in fae business when he married his daughter, Nzomi, off to a man named Kembo — the king of the Court of the Dry Veld, a local Summer Court variant. When Nzomi warned her father that her husband smelled of wildness and blood, Kumalo began to investigate and found that Kembo left pawprints rather than footprints. Given Zulu views on sorcery, Kumalo immediately became hostile to the king. Rather than deal with an irritating father-in-law, Kembo made a deal with an unknown Keeper to remove the problem.

After around a decade of his durance, Kumalo escaped, emerging into the mortal world only a few months after he was taken. Finding his farm lost and cattle butchered, Kumalo beat his fetch to death, murdered Kembo with a thrown spear, and took his daughter back.

Now, Kumalo has begun a crusade against any corrupt rulers that he can find.

Appearance

Kumalo is a tall man of six foot six, with scraggly hair dangling from his chin. The clothing he wears is minimalist, and he never wears shoes. Under his Mask, his head is topped by two knobby horns and his nose is squashed somewhat, to the extent that it mimics a goat’s muzzle. Interestingly, as he ages, Kumalo grows younger rather than older.
