Mardan
Mardan is an ancient Gangrel that now lies in torpor in the Rhein-Main region, exerting a subconscious influence on all members of his clan in the area.
Biography
In life, Mardan was a druid among the Celts, one of the tribes that venerated Gaia. Damned into undeath, he traveled the world searching for a way to escape the curse. He found an ally in the Nosferatu Angiwar. While the two vampires quickly became friends, Angiwar's feud with the Malkavian Inanna resulted in a terrible battle in 264 BCE during which the Malkavian used Dementation to permanently shatter Mardan's hold over the Beast. In time, the Gangrel Clan Curse began to consume him and he left after a fight with Angiwar.
Mardan vanished for a long time. He briefly returned at the beginning of the 20th century, raging against the fact that the vast woodlands of Germany were now largely felled. In his rampage, he caused all Gangrel in the region to enter Frenzy, which caused a Blood Hunt against the entire Clan. Mardan was eventually forced to enter torpor, but continued to influence his local clan members through their blood. During their daysleep, every Gangrel in the region receives visions of a vast undespoiled forest and a sense of peace that is lost when they awaken. Over time, most of these Gangrel begin to act aggressively against mortal society and fall into Frenzy or are driven from the region. Mardan hopes to use these visions to inspire his Clan to strike against civilization. He is unaware that his actions only ostracize his Clan more and rob them of any chance to act.
