Mo'o
Overview

On the island of Moloka'i is a wonderful place in the northwest area. Moa'ula Falls is a well-traveled site, where a 250-foot cascade of water descends into a pool below.
The pool is guarded by a chimera of a race called mo'o. He eats swimmers he does not like. If the swimmer places a ti leaf on the water and it floats, the water is fine. If it sinks, it’s best not to go in. The chimera resides deep at the bottom of the pool but rises occasionally to take a swimmer who insults him. The menehune used to keep him in line, but they are gone from the island now (except for occasional visits), so he can do what he likes.
Another mo'o supposedly resides in the Spouting Hole on Kaua'i.
Powers
- Transparency: The mo'o can camouflage itself in water, becoming transparent and practically invisible as long as it does not move. The mo'o simply makes a successful Dexterity + Swimming roll (difficulty 7) to stay perfectly still. If it fails, its motion can be seen by anyone watching. If successful, anyone looking for something in the water must gain more successes than the mo'o’s swimming roll to see it, although if the searcher is specifically looking for a transparent mo'o, they may subtract 1 from their Perception difficulty.
