Mockmaw

Mockmaw of the Wyrm was a legendary Black Spiral Dancer chieftain.

Biography

Trying to find a way to break the chains that hold the Wyrm, Mockmaw led a campaign of terror against the Garou to obtain their secrets. It is said that his slayers came as countless as the droplets of rain and they managed to defeat and kill 13 garou heroes sent from each one of the 13 Garou Nation tribes.

The Dancers advance was halted by Luna, who interceded and forced them to flee from her light. However, even as the Dancers hid underground they could still hear the maddening prayings of the 13 heroes to the celestine, until the Wyrm-tainted werewolves were led into a collective frenzy from which only the strongest survived.

Mockmaw was among the survivors, but many of the warriors had perished from that dread. At that point, in his quest for more power, he turned to the help of his loremaster Grimbane. Together they conducted a ritual to gather the wisdom from the slain Garou using their corpses. Through the information given to them by the dead they acquired the key to Wyrm's chains and opened the Black Spiral Labyrinth.

Mockmaw decided to go all the way into the Devouring Wyrm at infinity's chaos to realease the greatest of Banes, he was joined by four of his bravest surviving pack brothers and they went into the maze. Like moths going towards the sun, however, the pack was eaten by strange creatures and madness sank into Mockmaw's soul.

As Mockmaw got to the midnight's pearl at the center of the Labyrinth he was warned by the ghost of a Dancer of old, that none had gone further than him before. The shade begged him to return but he crossed the night's last threshold nonetheless. The key was shattered and lost, while Mockmaw himself was devoured whole by the Bound Wyrm.
