Necalli

Necalli was an Aztec warrior sacrificed some decades before the reign of Ahuizotl.

Overview

Captured in a flower war, Necalli expected to be rewarded by an afterlife in the heaven of Tonatiuh-Ilhuicac. To his misfortune, the fire priest officiating the sacrifice, Ollin, was no fire priest at all — he was a fraud seeking the benefits of higher status. The deception saw the warrior's spirit instead bound up inside the sacrificial knife.

Necalli's spirit now exhorts any who draw the knife to take vengeance against Ollin's blood line. Additionally, it rewards proper sacrifices made through its use.

The knife's destruction would see Necalli's spirit let loose into the world.
