Order of Eiliethyia

The Order of Eiliethyia is an order of kithain, both commoner and noble, charged with finding and protecting fae undergoing the Chrysalis.

Overview

At one point the Parliament of Dreams gathered to debate on a better way to recuse and help changelings through their Chrysalis because there were rumors of certain other supernatural forces seeking out these vulnerable fae for enslavement, study, or dinner. With surprisingly little debate they agreed to found an order to do just that.

Of course, that's when the disagreements began as commoner and noble argued over who should lead the force. The commoners had already lost several key rulings and were loathe to loose another while the nobles, eager for another opportunity for glory were not willing to let the "base upstarts" order the around. As the debate dragged on, Queen Mab of the Kingdom of Apples was called in to arbitrate because the commoners found her fair, as far as nobles go. She declared that the order would be more loosely knit with its titular head a commoner. Nobles who entered had to consider all members as equals in the job before them while commoners were encouraged to show the nobles courtesy. (Many nobles, particularly the Beltaine Blade, were quite unhappy with the ruling.)

While disagreements continue arise within the order from time to time across noble/commoner lines, they work surprisingly well together out of necessity. A changeling in Chrysalis can be very dangerous. Riots among the mortals can break out and another changeling may find their own cantrips extra powerful or turning on them. There is no time to argue over noblesse oblige. The predators present problems as well.

Predators

To date the Order of Eiliethyia has had encounters with the following

  • Mages looking for a fix of "something" but it isn't understood what.
  • Vampires with a sweet tooth. Malkavians particularly are attracted to Chrysalides.
  • The Nunnehi trying to kill "foreigners."
  • The Inanimae for reasons unknown.
  • Humans out of curiosity.
  • Pentex (and the Hidden Ones) for experimentation and study.
  • More rarely Dauntain trying to convert or destroy.

Allies

All members of the Order, when on order business, are treated with honor by the kithain (+2 dice for court interactions or requests for noble favor) at many courts but this will vary with the nobles in question.

The Crystal Circle looks well on the Order and occasionally one of their number will lead an important mission. Some members view their role in Saining a new changeling as extending to protecting their entry into the Dreaming. Some fae are members of both orders.

Enemies

Enemies of the Order include the Monkey's Paw, the Beltaine Blade, and some unaffiliated Unseelie.
