Order of Odin
The Order of Odin was a name used by scholars of the Order of Hermes to refer to a collection of wizards from the frozen lands of Scandinavia. Despite the unity the name implies, the wizards seemed to include several different and possibly mutually hostile traditions.
Some Odinite prisoners claimed to be trying to free Loki from the chains which bound him. Hermetics spent some time trying to determine if this was symbolic or literal.
The Order was considered a clear enemy of the Order of Hermes. The two Orders' territory only overlapped in the Novgorod Tribunal.
Background Information
- Although expanded upon in later editions of Ars Magica as optional material, the Order of Odin only appeared once in Lion Rampant/White Wolf material. Although they likely weren't being considered 20 years later during the development of Dark Ages: Mage, with the benefit of hindsight we might suggest that what Hermetics called the Order of Odin was, in truth, a collection of the region's Valdaermen, Old Faith, and Spirit-Talkers.
