Quintessence (MTAw)

In order for an archmage to work Imperial spells, he needs an object to summarize the spell and its effect, commonly known as Quintessence. The quintessence is a metaphysical link between the Truth and the Lie that is compatible with the spell’s Imago and affords. As it goes, each Quintessence is unique for both the spell and the caster and this makes gathering Quintessence a very difficult task, as each archmage must first discover what the essential Quintessence to fuel his Imperial Spell actually is.
