Revisionists

The Revisionists are a Secret Society of House Leanhaun that works to cover up and spin the indiscretions of the house.

Overview

The Finders work right under the noses of the Seelie Court and the rest of the Leanhaun escape mass retribution from enraged Seelie because of the work of the Revisionists. In ages past they were bards and ambassadors who moved through the realm making sure that name of Leanhaun was never attached to any great crimes or forbidden practices. Whatever the reality of the situation, they suppressed stories that would damage the house by offering tales of the heroic or compassionate exploits of the house. Most of the house's reputation for being talent finders and excellent hosts stems from these agent's work. Younger fae these days call them spin doctors.

This alone would justify their existence but on top of it all their close relations with other kithain helps them regularly learn damaging details of the other houses. In a way, if the Knights Protector are the military, the Revisionists are the house's intelligence community. If the information gathered isn't enough by itself, then these talented tellers build it up into rumors that approach the truth while causing others to question the offending party's propriety. Or maybe they link two unrelated bits of gossip, making each sound worse because of their association. There was one incident where one of these fae regaled a group of Seelie grumps with the story of a Fiona lord who presented a satyr childling with a toy on their Saining day. It was a perfectly innocent act made from the lord of the freehold to a member of their court and in full view of everyone present. By the time the revisionist was through insinuating, suggesting, and disclaiming any "real" proof, however, the grumps were convinced the Fiona forced the childling into their bed, abused them, threatened them with cold iron should they reveal the lord's perverse attentions, and then tried to buy the childling's silence with a chimerical treasure.

It doesn't pay to annoy a revisionist.
