Biography

The story of Reyes Malcolm is by all accounts a classic tale of rags-to-riches. Born impoverished in the South Bronx, Rey got his start in finances, a talent that eventually propelled him all the way to Wall Street. By his 50s, he was considered a cutthroat financial powerhouse, likely why the Ventrue of Manhattan were grooming him for the Embrace. However, Rey was instead assaulted and killed by a lone Gangrel one late night in a back alley, who for unknown reasons decided to Embrace him. Needless to say, Rey didn't take it well - becoming so incensed that he reportedly Frenzied at a Camarilla social club and had to be forcibly removed. He was banished back to the Bronx afterwards, forcing him to once again start from the ground up.

Rey attempted to reverse his fortunes by organizing a fake charity auction on behalf of the Brujah crime boss Richter, hoping to prove his worth by setting up a money laundering scheme on his behalf. Unfortunately, the decidedly old-school Richter didn't quite comprehend that in order for a fake auction to generate profit, you can't invite people who can actually afford to bid on it. Richter ended up losing a lot of money in that scheme but blamed Rey for it coming apart, forcing him to work with a coterie of fellow fledglings by way of recompense.

The Gangrel made no secret of his disdain for the Anarch Movement's quasi-revolutionary agenda, and plotted behind his coterie's back to gain entrance back into the Ivory Tower. That opportunity came in the form of a roving Wight on the coterie's turf, who the Camarilla feared might be representative of remnants of the Sabbat still present within New York. Rey struck a deal to capture the Wight in exchange for a ticket back to Manhattan, but his coterie-mate Isaac Brooke had other ideas. Isaac decapitated the Wight as it lay staked - forcing an irate Rey to watch as his opportunity literally crumbled to dust.
