Samantha

Samantha Sam to her friends is someone who knew LaCroix's agent in life. When she was young, she had a pet turtle named Shelly.

In late 2004, she spotted the agent, confronting them, relieved that they were still "alive," and rushed off to alert their family and friends, starting by calling "Jenny" on a payphone.

Quests

The encounter with Samantha begins at the Cavoletti Café in Hollywood when the Dead Ex quest is completed.

Although strictly speaking a "quest," the encounter with Samantha must be resolved immediately or it will result in a Masquerade violation, as soon as she phones the fledgling's old friends (specifically someone named Jenny).

Samantha will then follow the fledgling throughout Hollywood.

Methods of dealing with Samantha before she phones Jenny include:

  • Persuading her to drop the subject (Masquerade Redemption)
  • Intimidating her to leave you alone. If your skill is not high enough, the Beast will surface and kill her.
  • Ventrue or Tremere: Using Dominate in dialog
  • Malkavian: Using Dementation in dialog to convince her that the fledgling is her childhood pet turtle
  • Feeding on her before she uses the payphone, taking advantage of the amnesiac effects of the Kiss
  • Killing her before she uses the payphone (Humanity loss)
  • Using a distracting Discipline, such as Hysteria, Trance, Sleep, Brain Wipe, or Nightwisp Ravens, before she can get to the payphone

Nosferatu do not encounter Samantha.
