Scheff

Scheff is a Seelie Satyr Wilder and tour guide at Arcadia Winery in the Duchy of Goodwine in the Kingdom of Pacifica.

Overview

A beach bum extraordinaire, Scheff's spent years doing the professional house guest thing. He'd crash with a vague acquaintance at night, slip out in the morning, set up shop with his electric bass on a boardwalk somewhere, and just let the coins come raining in. This process would continue until well after the sun went down, at which point he'd latch onto one of his seemingly infinite acquaintances and trundle home with them. Originally coming to California as an actor, doing his time in fast-food joints waiting for his big break, he found this lifestyle liberating but also recognized its inherent weakness: lack of a retirement plan. That's where JZ came in.

Scheff, who Chrysalised at age four or so, was one of the commoners at Aeon's concert who helped JZ through his Chrysalis and JZ wanted to return the favor somehow. When he glommed onto the job as Arcadia Winery's head of security, he hired Scheff as a tour guide, figuring that both his own purposes were served and that he was doing a good deed by Scheff. So far, he's been right on both counts.

Scheff is about 5'4", with a broad, engaging smile, curly brown hair, and a friendly face that radiates honesty. His entire body is dusted liberally with freckles. Californian to the hilt, he wears a polo shirt with the Arcadia Winery logo monogram, khaki shorts, and sandals. His hair is pulled into a ponytail. In fae mien, his curls get more expansive and light brown hair can be seen poking from his shirt sleeves and collar. His hands are huge and his teeth gleamingly bright and even.

Personal

Tour guide is a perfect profession for Scheff. He loves showing off... I mean sharing his knowledge with people, and the notion of a day full of captive audiences for his one-liners puts a smile on his face every morning. He is informal in speech (though he finds the use of "dude" unprofessional), expansively friendly in action, and overly touchy-feely-huggy with anyone he comes across.

One of the reasons he's been selected for tour guide duty is his knack for Kenning. If anyone on a tour sets off alarm bells, he finds a way to inform JZ, making certain the situation comes to the attention of someone who can handle it. If the faintest possibility of physical violence arises, he finds a way, gracefully, to run like hell.
