Shen

Shen is a collective Asian term for supernatural beings.

Overview

The term is usually employed by those supernaturals that are active in the Middle Kingdom (eastern Asia, particularly China). The term is sometimes used more specifically to refer to supernaturals that are native to that region or are predominantly active there, such as Kuei-jin, Hengeyokai, Chi'n Ta, the wraiths of the Dark Kingdom of Jade, Hsien, and Bakemono (fomori).
