Sister Rae
Sister Rae, Bearing the Clutch of the River of Grass
Kinfolk are accorded honor among the Mokolé, but rarely is there anyone as extraordinary as Sister Rae. Born to the human Kin who dwell in the Everglades near the River of Grass wallow, she chose See-How-He-Shines, the clutch's Rising Sun, as her mate and bore him two children, one a true Mokolé. She then developed True Faith in Sun, which she expressed in music, and several years ago left the clutch to found the Church of the New Sun in a storefront in Tallahassee. The Church has spread, with revivals and prayer concerts featuring Sister and the gospel choir, whose CDs have become popular among a small circle of admirers. She preaches that God's love is for all, and her faith has taken her to the sinister byways of the World of Darkness — she even hopes to someday find one of the mythical “vampire clubs” and sing there, to urge the dead that Sun shines for them. Elders have warned Sister Rae and even forbidden her to preach to other Awakened, but her outreach has made connections in many strange places, and a motley crowd of Awakened show up for her concerts and church services, drawn by her compelling preaching style and beautiful music.
