Sophia Komnenou

Sophia Komnenou is a powerful Ventrue of Athens.

Biography

Sophia is an heiress of the Komnenos dynasty, that, together with the Paleologus, ruled most of the Byzantine Empire. Her family survived the fall of Constantinople and sought a return to old glory. Sophia's Embrace by the Ottoman Suleiman, about three hundred years before, was part of the Ottoman effort to destroy the Komnenos efforts by entangling families in the Ottoman's machine of power. However, Sophia held a grudge against her sire.

When Peisistratos became advisor of Prince Suleiman of Athens, he took advantage of the Greek Revolution in the 1820s and, with Sophia's and Amphitryon's help, destroyed Suleiman and became the new Prince. Sophia expected to be given a role in court but Peisistratos, reject her woman nature, shunned her. Despite this, he couldn't banish her after what she'd done for him. So she remained in Athens. Biding her time, she built a coterie of spurned women and nurtured connections in every significant political faction in the Balkans, eventually becoming good friends with Markos Petrou. She seeks to overthrow Pesisitratos.
