Suzanne Rochelle

Suzanne Rochelle is a powerful Toreador Ancilla, formerly the Seneschal and lover of Prince Vannevar Thomas.

Biography

Suzanne was born in 18th Century Alsace, France, and at one point became a handmaiden to none other than Marie Antoinette. The Queen of France was herself the ghoul of Prince François Villon, meaning that by the time Suzanne was Embraced, she held a dual role in both the mortal Court of Versailles and the Kindred Court of Paris. She attended to the ghouled Queen even after becoming a vampire, and thus was party to many within Prince Villon's inner circle, given that François liked to keep Antoinette close by. It also meant she was there - alongside the Prince, the foreign dignitaries Karsh and Lucita de Aragon, and a young Vannevar Thomas - on the night of the October March, wherein rioters aided by the Sabbat stormed the Palace of Versailles.

Suzanne and her fellow Kindred fled from the carnage with the help of the Nosferatu master mason Zelios, and she and Vannevar would eventually travel to the New World to escape the chaos engulfing Europe. In 1910, Vannevar would claim praxis over San Francisco, with Suzanne serving as his confidant and consort. However, in 2018 a coup forced the pair to flee south to Los Angeles, where things rapidly began to come apart. The Anarchs of LA proved relentlessly rebellious - destroying several members of their Court within the first year of their arrival. Prince Thomas was mentally crippled by an insidious derangement inflicted upon him by the Malkavian Therese Voerman, forcing Suzanne to effectively take the reins of the local Camarilla herself.

Vannevar, with the help of the Tremere, managed to eventually recover, but by that point the Second Inquisition was knocking at their door. Both he and Suzanne were ambushed by the SI's forces and the Seneschal was presumed to have perished alongside her beloved. However, it was later revealed by the Lasombra Renato Cristoval that Suzanne had in fact survived - albeit in torpor - and was currently being transported by him to New York.

Trivia

  • Suzanne Rochelle was introduced as the player character of special guest Amelia Rose Blaire in LA by Night S2E8: Innocent Monsters. As with many "guest characters" in the chronicle, Suzanne only re-appears a select number of times, specifically in S3E5: Play the Devil, S3E6: Beauty and Decay, S4E7: Dead Ecstasies, and S5E1: Tower of Glass.
    • The episode Beauty and Decay is of particular import to Suzanne, as it takes place within her Memoriam, and therefore is shown from the perspective of her recollection of events.
  • The actress Amelia Rose Blaire is the real-life spouse of Bryan Dechart, who plays Vannevar Thomas in LA by Night.
