Taiping Tianguo

The Taiping Tianguo, or Water Dragons, are an order of the Dalou'laoshi dedicated to the pursuit of individual freedom and entertainments. They hide within the Syndicate, a Convention of the Technocratic Union.

Paradigm

The Taiping Tianguo hold that chi must be fostered and controlled. To this end, they study how it is shaped by its surroundings, how it bends and breaks in reaction to tragedy or construction projects. Every result, even a catastrophe, yields results to them that can be further used for more advanced studies. Other dragons oppose this as reckless, the Water Dragons see it as a necessity.

Their theoretical end goal is to make chi available to all people in the Middle Kingdom and to eradicate chaos and randomness, via technology. To develop or fund this, money is essential. It does not only provide ways to advance studies, but is also a great study object in regards to theories of chaos.

Their speciality sphere is Entropy, similar to the focus in the Syndicate. Their embrace of chaos even leads some of their allies to suspect that the Water Dragons might harbor Marauders.

Organization

The Taiping Tianguo are focused on Taiwan and Hong Kong, where they are hard at work to strengthen their financial empire. Their agents are scattered across the whole Middle Kingdom and are often treated as loose cannons.

Unlike the other dragons, the Taiping Tianguo are more accepting of rogue elements in their hierarchy. Their encouragement of divisive elements, ranging from prostitution to gambling,

Culture

While notorious among their fellow dragons, the Taiping Tianguo do not indulge in vices at random. All their deeds follow a greater goal. In this modern era, the Water Dragons delight in technology, especially complex computers and advanced physical sciences. Every chance to study complex systems is another chance to learn a way to order chaos.

In theory, the companies of the Taiping Tianguo are open to the stock market. In practice, their agents keep close tabs on them to avoid them falling outside their control. Their encouragement of chaos, seen as dangerous by some other dragons, ultimately has the goal of understanding it and ultimately find a way to turn chaos into productiveness and order.

The Taiping Tianguo don't get along well with most of their fellow Dragons. Their goals and methods run counter to most everything they stand for. Their relationships with the Zaibatsu are decent, as they both have a love for technology and the Fire Dragons can share, at times, in their espoused recklessness. The Zi Guang are especially at odds with them in China around the Yangtze River Project.
