Tanis, Egypt (WOD)
Tanis was the capital of ancient Egypt beginning in the 10th century BCE during the twenty-first dynasty. The Followers of Set had enormous influence at the time, and the master of its Great Temple was the methuselah Seterpenre, a childe of Set himself.
In time Set's influence waned and the priests of Amun-Ra came to power. The Great Temple was hidden until the coming of the Romans around 1st century CE. The temple was destroyed under mysterious circumstances and Seterpenre moved its survivors to the city of Tinnis, which had been built on an island at the mouth of the river. Tanis itself was abandoned shortly thereafter.
