Norns (CTD)

The Norns, or Fates, are an enigmatic threefold goddess/conceptual entity. The Sisters Three are mot commonly portrayed as a triad of women who appear as maiden, mother, and hag.

Overview

Feared, loved, all knowing... these words describe the common opinion of members of House Aesin concerning the Sister Three. Since the dawn of the Dreaming, these women have spun their threads of fate for all living creatures. Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld - House Aesin knows them as the Norns. They are incredibly powerful beings, older than the oldest Ancient. They carry Aesin's blood, or so others say, and from time to time they visit the house without warning. Urd, the keeper of the past, appears as a young maiden whose looks enchant every man in sight. Verdandi, weaver of the present, comes to the house in all her motherly pride. She is the embodiment of a wilder Aesin. The oldest of the sisters, the crone Skuld, is the one who holds the secrets of the future. When the Norns come, it is best to show respect, for their agenda is incomprehensible to lesser beings. Usually they live in the Kingdom of Dán, and from their temple they weave Aesin's future. Will they act or will they stand aside when the final battle comes?

Scholars of House Aesin believe that the Norns are the true source of Aesin blood, and the sisters have never done anything to dispute the claim. They are independent of House Aesin, who have no control over them, yet the sisters come to them from time to time with their cryptic prophesies and warnings.
