Name
Opistophthalmus latimanus C. L. Koch 1841
Type locality: South Africa, near Cape Town ("Foothills of [the Cape of] Good Hope" as "Das Vorgebirg der guten Hoffnung.")
Typus: Holotype [lost?], possibly was ZMB. [Prendin, 2001 notes the holotype of O. latimanus could not be located and is thought to have been destroyed during the Second World War (W. Schawaller, pers. comm.), plus footnote "loss of the holotype has not been confirmed beyond reasonable doubt"].
